NOVATO AND FAIRFAX FARMERS MARKETS ON THE HORIZON
The first week of May marks the grand opening of MFM's seasonal markets in Downtown Novato and the Town of Fairfax. The Novato Farmers Market will open on Tuesday, May 6th. The Fairfax Farmers Market will open on Wednesday, May 7th. Both markets will run 4pm-8pm. We invite you to join us at both of these charming evening markets to enjoy the locally grown bounty of the summer season.
B.Y.O.B. - GREENING THE MARIN FARMERS MARKETS
In honor of Earth Day, MFM is kicking the plastic bag habit. We’d like to invite you, the consumer, to join us by Bringing Your Own Bag, B.Y.O.B. MFM will be hosting plastic bag free markets at our Thursday Civic Center, Saturday Grand Lake, and Sunday Civic Center Farmers Markets, April 24th-April 27th.
Marin Farmers Markets will be providing vendors with 100% recycled paper bags to offer to customers, but truly greening your farmers market experience will depend on you, the customer. So bring your tote bags, produce bags, reusable containers, or even your reused plastic bags from last week. Don’t forget them at home or in the car. You can do it!
Together, as a community of farmers, specialty food purveyors, artisans, green-minded community groups, and eaters, we can create farmers markets that tread more lightly on the planet.

BUILDING A PERMANENT HOME FOR LOCAL AGRICULTURE
Marin Farmers Markets is proud to introduce it's sister non-profit, Marin Agricultural Institute (MAI) and its vision of a permanent home for local agriculture.
What began over four years ago as an idea for a permanent home for the Marin Farmers Markets has evolved into a vision of a Pavilion, a community landmark, dedicated to growing a healthy local food system. The Pavilion will be more than a building; it will be an enduring tangible symbol of local agriculture and the region’s emerging role as a model for environmentally and socially responsible living.
Click below to view a video describing MAI's vision of the future Pavilion. Hear from farmers, customers, MFM board members and staff about their hopes for a permanent facility. Note that MAI was previous known as Marin Center for Sustainable Agriculture.
FARM TO FORK DISTRIBUTION PROGRAM
Marin Agricultural Institute's Farm to Fork distribution program is now providing an opportunity for local schools, restaurants, corporate cafeterias, and catering services to walk their talk when it comes to more environmentally and socially responsible business practices.
Every week, Farm to Fork delivers thousands of dollars of the freshest fruits and vegetables, sustainably raised meats, and specialty prepared foods to a growing community of local customers. If you are a Marin Farmers Markets farmer or food purveyor, or a local business feeding your community and are interested in participating in Farm to Fork, please click below for more information including this week's order forms, farmer availability forms, rules, and procedures.
OPPORTUNITIES FOR PRODUCERS TO SHINE AT THE FAIR
Whether you're a MFM farmer, specialty food purveyor, artist, or a loyal customer, now is the time to celebrate the abundance of the Marin Farmers Markets. The Marin County Fair is accepting applications to participate in their relative events. Applications are due May 15th. For more information on each event please click More below.
FARMERS MARKET SCHOOL TOURS
Calling all teachers. Take a tour of the Marin Farmers Market and share a fresh experience with your students. Meet the farmers and learn how they grow their crops, where they come from, what is in season, and why they choose to farm. Also get to know local artisans, bakers, food purveyors and a MFMA market manager. We believe that a day at the farmers market will get your students excited about making healthy food choices by building a sense of connection to the people who grow our food.
We offer a variety of tours at our San Rafael Civic Center Farmers Market on Thursdays. Choose to attend a market orientation, participate in a self-guided farmers market treasure hunt, or take a tour with a MFMA market manager. Tours are available from 9am-noon. For more information and to download a Tour Request Form please click below. If you have any further questions, contact Tyler Thayer at 415-472-6100 ext.104.
